VE-SAV: resilience and
longevity strategy for an independent fashion brand

brand strategy / service strategy

In 2025, I was part of the strategy team supporting the emerging Lithuanian fashion brand VE-SAV. My contribution focused on research, identifying strategic opportunities, and crafting creative briefs that informed the development of a broader business network. Together we explored an ecosystem of artistic and comercial enterprises that help designer Vilte Savickaite connect with wider international audience, develop market resilience and longevity, and nurture creative vitality.

Double trouble

The independent fashion designer brands in the Lithuanian market all tend to follow a similar formula. Many rely on personal narratives that are often ambiguous and rooted in nature or traditional Lithuanian motifs, while the brand itself rarely expands beyond the designer and their collections. Combined with a small domestic audience and the higher price point of designer fashion, this creates a limited market and leaves few pathways for long-term growth.

As the DTC market becomes increasingly saturated and the luxury sector faces a significant slowdown, relying solely on direct consumer sales presents limited opportunities for growth. Price increases have reached a ceiling, with higher prices negatively affecting demand.

Recognizing the limitations of the DTC only approach, we wanted to identify a mechanism that would make the brand look more visible to a broader audience and offer more robust and large scale business opportunities. The opportunity was to balance two goals: maintaining and developing Vilte’s artistic voice while building sustainable and scalable revenue channels.

Growth through mutual value

The B2B channel emerged as an opportunity that aligns with the broader shift away from luxury as a material purchase and toward “money can’t buy” experiences. It enables Vilte to build credibility through association with prestigious third spaces, increase visibility by transforming high-traffic environments into showcases for her designs, and secure higher-value orders with fewer customer acquisitions.

Inspired by brands such as Carhartt and Service Works, which successfully transformed workwear heritage into consumer lifestyle brands, we identified an opportunity to reposition workwear as a tool for brand identity and experience. Viltė’s unique positioning between fashion and food, urban and rural landscapes, and national identity created a strong foundation for developing prestige workwear for high-end hospitality, technology companies, and culturally significant spaces across the Baltic region.

In return, client spaces become living showrooms for Viltė’s work, increasing brand visibility and directing audiences toward her ready-to-wear offering. For utility wear, these environments also validate the product’s function - if it performs in a chef’s kitchen, it can be trusted in everyday life.

Once we had an understanding, i was responsible for creating bespoke pitches for businesses of interest to peak their curiosity by articulating how we create value and understand the relevance of uniforms for their individual case.

Before pinpointing specific business clients of interest, a couple of high value domains were selected where VE-SAV’s values could create value. One of them was custom uniforms for high-end eateries, as VE-SAV is unique in its position between fashion and food. Sector-specific vision and value proposition framing was developed and presented to the brand.

Bespoke approach

The ongoing effort focuses on establishing and nurturing relationships across a wide-range of highly-visible businesses: from restaurants, to venture capital organisations, to the public postal services, with bespoke apparel and accessories being conceptualised to elevate each brand. All sketches are creations of the designer Vilte Savickaite.

01

BSV Ventures

Rooted in the scientific discovery or meaningful engineering innovation, this venture capital nurtures a community of innovators that bring the future closer and strengthen Baltics economical, political, and technological independence.

Workwear is thus directly inspired by visible functionality, nods to cultural heritage of the region, and is designed to transition easily across formal and more casual contexts, across science and business.

02

Lithuanian Post

As one of the earliest signifiers of the nation's independence and its subsequent restoration, the LT POST is more than a vital piece of infrastructure - it is a tangible expression of Lithuania's resilience, vitality, and national identity. While privately owned logistics brands focus solely on commercial success, Lithuanian Post has to maintain both a competitive edge through innovation and create long-term social value through accessible and trustworthy infrastructure.

Workwear design was thus heavily influenced by the reality of frontline work. Heritage, trust, utility, sustainability and a future-facing mindset were established as critical points for creative direction.

Reflections

Over 12 months, we developed a clear understanding of how to approach business clients and generate meaningful leads. Rather than leading with a design sketch, we aimed to lead with the client's context, values, and ambitions. Creative briefs and designs were therefore strategic proposals that clients could see themselves in.
